Melissa Moore
While Melissa is officially the newest member of the Heroes in Force team, she’s been involved with the group since her husband Russell joined the team in 2016. Melissa joins our team as a marvelous new captain, who is also a new addition to the world of superhero movies! She has always enjoyed working with children and youth, and this love of working with children inspired her decision to attend Toccoa Falls College and major in Family & Children’s Ministry. Melissa has also done significant work with adults with developmental disabilities, including running an overnight camp for three summers in New York.
Melissa hopes to challenge kids (and adults!) in the community to be the best they can be by promoting our four aspects of being a hero: 1) never give up, 2) always do the right thing, 3) help other people, and 4) don’t be a bully. She believes that it is especially important for adults to model these four traits in their lives because we are always be watched by our children. It’s easy to brush things off, ignore problems, and not reach out to the “outsiders” in our community. It takes a true hero to stand up for what is right and be a positive force within your community - whether it be school, work, or at home! When she isn’t portraying a superhero, Melissa enjoys reading, baking, and playing the piano. She married her husband, Russell, in 2011 and is a stay-at-home mom to two curly-headed boys (Samuel, 5 and Joshua, 2). She can often be found at Chick-fil-A, except on Sundays, where you’ll find her teaching a 2 year old Sunday School class! |
